US ‘deeply disturbed’ by reports of systematic rape of Muslims in China camps

WASHINGTON: The United States is “deeply disturbed” by reports of systematic rape and sexual abuse towards ladies in internment camps for ethnic Uighurs and different Muslims in China’s Xinjiang area and there have to be severe penalties for atrocities dedicated there, the US State Department mentioned on Wednesday (Feb 3).

The spokeswoman reiterated US fees that China has dedicated “crimes against humanity and genocide” in Xinjiang and added: “These atrocities shock the conscience and must be met with serious consequences.”

The official mentioned China ought to permit “immediate and independent investigations by international observers” into the rape allegations “in addition to the other atrocities being committed in Xinjiang”.
